A full map of Leonida circulated in August 2026 and every GTA site ran with it. Some of what it shows is probably accurate. Some of it is out of date, and part of the file that spread was edited before it got there. Here is what happened and how much of it to trust.

What actually leaked
A complete map image of the State of Leonida, showing the coastline, region boundaries, county names, road layout and a large number of place names. It spread across social platforms and forums in mid-August 2026. Take-Two responded with takedown notices and legal action aimed at identifying the source, which is the strongest signal available that the material is genuine rather than a fabrication.
The problem: it is not current
The material reportedly derives from build data dating to 2023. A game three years from release changes a great deal in that time. Place names get cut, areas get merged, boundaries move. Every leaked name on this site therefore carries the leaked grade rather than the confirmed one, and several of them may never appear in the shipped game at all.
Part of the circulating file was altered
The version that spread most widely had been edited before release, with unrelated branding inserted into the image. That does not make the underlying map fake, but it does mean the file people were sharing was not a clean copy of anything, and details read off a low-quality reupload of an edited image are weaker still.
What to trust and what to discard
The overall shape of the state and the position of the major regions match what Rockstar has shown independently, so the broad geography is probably sound. Individual minor place names are the least reliable part: they are exactly the sort of detail that changes late in development. Anything read from the leak that contradicts Rockstar’s own site should be discarded, not reconciled.
This is not the first leak
In September 2022 Rockstar suffered a breach that put roughly ninety early development videos online. Those clips are where the community mapping effort started, because they contained on-screen coordinates that could be assembled into a rough picture of the world. Everything the community knew about the map between 2022 and the first trailer traces back to that material.
A note on hosting the material
This site describes the leak and uses it to grade evidence. It does not host or mirror the leaked assets. Take-Two is actively pursuing distribution of that material, and sites that rehost it are the ones getting takedown notices.

A compact Florida, wider and shorter than the real state. Vice City sits on the south-east coast, split by a bay with a barrier island on the ocean side, and wetlands fill the southern interior. The Leonida Keys trail off the bottom, the panhandle runs west along the top toward Port Gellhorn, and Mount Kalaga National Park sits on the northern border. Nobody outside Rockstar has seen the finished map, so this is the layout that the leaked material and the trailers together describe rather than a confirmed picture.
Has the GTA 6 map been released?

Partly. Rockstar has confirmed the six regions of Leonida and a set of named places inside them on its own site, so those are settled. The outline of the state, the county names and most of the smaller settlements come from leaked material and have never been confirmed.
